There always comes a moment in your life, when you begin to question why you live the way you do.
Did you learn it as you grew up? Is it something that you saw on television that ingrained an everlasting image in your mind? Does it have anything to do with who you admire and desire to be like? Is “the dream” about money, or the journey itself?
Or is something deeper, more innate?
Perhaps you started feeling different the moment you began to care deeply for the Earth. Once you realized that man is the biggest threat to our very own future. When it became known that climate change is inevitable and certain species of plants and animals are disappearing (facing extinction) before our very eyes… Should we not choose to hide from the facts?

Our journey to a simple life began many years ago. So far in the past, that it is really not even a story to retell anymore. What matters now, is the present and the future.
Which brings us to the question:
When is the right time to start living sustainably?
The only way to answer that, is now.
As soon as you read this.
As soon as you feel the importance of it.
As soon as you have time to sit in silence (preferably outside with your bare feet on the ground) and contemplate the possible futures that could be.
Imagine one of those books from your childhood, where you got to choose which direction the story would go.
The end could still surprise you, even as the lines twisted and turned along the way.
But right now, you are writing the chapters, the months, the seasons.
You are the one in charge of making this world a better place to live.
So, what’s it going to be?
Are you ready to give up flying?
Can you eliminate harmful chemicals in your household? From the garage to the kitchen and bathroom?
Is it even possible to go plastic-free?
At what point can you stop consuming more than you need?
And when will you find more time to spend offline?

There is a lot to question in the world right now.
Be sure you are asking meaningful questions that will challenge and help you to edit the story, so that it has a truly sustainable end.
Turn off all technology. Sit outside, or open the window, and listen deeply to the thoughts inside your own head.
Without audible words, ask yourself “What Stops You From Living Simply and Sustainably?“
When you get up from this silent contemplation, make the decision that today is the day you will start to become the sustainable change.
And so it is. And so you will be.
